SELECTION OF RECENT WORK

California Court Appointed Special Advocate Association

The mission of California CASA is to ensure that children and youth in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems have both a voice and the services they need to thrive.

Annual Impact Reports

These reports combine compelling statistics of the challenges faced by children in foster care and heartfelt stories of the positive changes in their lives when they have a Court Appointed Special Advocate. The words and images center young people and the CASA volunteers who work on their behalf. I created the concepts, oversaw designs, managed the projects, wrote and edited all copy, and launched and distributed the digital and print versions for California CASA’s annual impact reports between 2019-2022. The designs are by Tracy Meiners at Studio TM.

Script Writing, Video Concept Creation & Art Direction

These animated videos show the process of becoming a CASA volunteer and the impact CASAs have on children in the foster care system. "A Kid Like Me" tells the story from the point of view of a little girl who describes how it feels to be removed from her home, enter foster care, and experience the support of a Court Appointed Special Advocate. Along with the full-length version, used for CASA training sessions around the state, there are 15- and 30-second-long cuts that featured in social media advertisement campaigns and on television to recruit CASA volunteers among target audiences. The video was also produced in Spanish with the title “Una Niña Como Yo.” Illustrations by Celeste Beyers. Animation by Evan Apodaca.

Public Service Announcement about ACEs

This video was part of series of public service announcements (PSAs) featuring California Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris. The 30- and 60-second-long PSAs, in English and Spanish, were distributed across California media channels to raise awareness of California CASA’s mission to serve the more than 81,000 youth in California’s foster care system, the 44 local CASA programs in the state, and the thousands of CASA volunteers who advocate for children in foster care. Video production by Eric L. Wong.

Brand Identity, Development & Awareness

ShowTex Amazing Stage Fabrics in Motion

ShowTex is a worldwide leader in inventing, manufacturing and installing the most innovative drapes, backdrops, curtain tracks, projection screens, glassless mirrors, scrims and accessories for achieving the creative vision of event and entertainment professionals. I oversaw the rebranding of the company, the launch of a new multi-lingual website, printed product overviews and portfolios, and email marketing newsletters targeted at distinct customer segments and geographic regions. It was crucial that printed and digital catalogue concepts offered an enhanced user experience while remaining cohesive with the main website. The visual branding and communication concepts and framework established at the time of the rebranding are still going strong as the company continues to grow.
